Alumni session on career guidance

As the title suggests, this session aimed to provide career guidance from a relatable perspective—through the experiences of our very own alumni. Unlike traditional sessions conducted by teachers or professionals, this one allowed current students to connect easily with individuals who once walked the same corridors.

On 5th August, a team of three alumni from the batch of 2017 conducted an engaging and informative career guidance session for the students of Grades 10, 11, and 12.

The session was opened by Ms. Tina Mary George, who is currently working as a research assistant in the field of nanobiotechnology at the society and innovation department, Indian Institute of science(IISc). She shared her journey into the world of research and spoke in depth about the vast job opportunities associated with the field. She also highlighted the perks of a career in research, including innovation, academic fulfillment, and societal contribution.

The session was then taken forward by Ms. Mudita Siripurapu, a graphic designer and freelance artist on Fiverr, who is also currently pursuing studies in VFX. She spoke about the challenges and rewards of her profession, sharing insights into the creative industry and the flexibility it offers.

The final speaker Mr. Akshat Vipul, a Senior Account Executive at Edmingle, discussed a career in tech sales. He elaborated on the skills essential for success in this field, such as communication, persuasion, and adaptability. He also spoke about the exciting opportunities tech sales offers, including travel, networking, and the chance to interact with CEOs of major companies.

The students actively engaged with the alumni, asking questions without any inhibition. It was an enriching and refreshing session—leaving the students inspired and better informed about various career paths.
