From Perseverance to Performance: My Board Exam Journey

Preparing for the board examinations was a momentous journey for me, and at the outset, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents, as well as my teachers who stood by me and supported me throughout. It was a phase where I not only matured academically but also took away several life lessons.

Over the course of a year and a half, I understood the importance of consistency in my effort, in helping me make progress towards my goal. I realized that perseverance, when combined with persistence, can indeed do wonders. I have had bad days, unsatisfactory scores, and such, over the course of my preparation, but my teachers and parents were always there for me to keep me motivated, which is what helped me see the silver lining in every cloud, and continue working towards my target without losing heart.

Throughout this journey, curiosity and a willingness to learn new things complimented my preparation very well, as they furthered my interest in the subjects I learnt. It pushed me to question facts given to me, helped me to understand the underlying scientific principles behind everything we see around us, and broadened my worldview; how decisions taken in any corner of the globe have long-standing impacts throughout the interconnected world we live in. This is what helped me better comprehend and appreciate the content in our textbooks. My teachers were ever-available to resolve even the silliest of my doubts, and always were open to questions and healthy in-class discussions, even if they went a little off-track from the prescribed syllabus so that our concepts were crystal clear. This was essential to my preparation, especially in the wake of the board examinations shifting towards a pattern of questions that test logic and conceptual clarity as opposed to rote memorization of given facts.

Despite the intensity of academics in Grade 10, my teachers continued to encourage me to actively take part in co-curricular activities such as Model UN, robotics, debating competitions, and such, which helped me immensely in many ways. This helped me develop the confidence to multi-task and taught me the importance of time management and planning, to do justice to my academics as well as my co-curriculars.

Once again, I am grateful to my parents and teachers for the invaluable life lessons and skills I picked up throughout this journey, that is sure to help me in the next phase of my life.

Thanks & Regards,
